Veterinary Surgeons

Tim Stead BVSc, MRCVS

The founder of S.T.Stead Veterinary Surgery, Tim Stead is a veterinary surgeon with over 40 years of experience.

He qualified from Bristol University in 1983 with a Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Science. He has built what was a small local pracitce in to a well known business throughout the locality and beyond.

As well a full time veterinary surgeon he is also a local parish councillor and part of the village hall committee. His hobbies include DIY, gardening, conservation and running. He has complete several London Maranthons, with his medals are proudly displayed in reception.

Dr Mike Jones BvetMed, Cert EP, MRCVS

Mike qualified from RVC London in 1996. He enjoys all aspects of medicine and surgery and has a special interest in wildlife. Over the years he has treated birds including Osprey, Marsh Harriers and Red Kites, mammals including badgers, otters and foxes. He enjoys horse riding, walking and wildlife watching.

Amie Faiers

Practice Manager

Amie joined the practice as a nursing assistant in July 2012 after finishing York College in Art and Design. She has always had love and passion for animals and decided to take a different career path to join our team.

Although Amie did leave the practice in 2019 to become a Dental Receptionist, through Covid and personal circumstances she rejoined the practice in 2021 and was promoted to Practice Manager in March 2022.

Outside of work, Amie mostly enjoys spending her time with family, including her husband, daughter and 2 dogs, including a rescued ex-racing Greyhound, who had a very difficult start in life and a King Charles spaniel, which they all enjoy going for walks in the countryside. Amie also has a huge interest in photography and loves taking Pet and Family Portraits, as well as the occassional wedding.

Sarah Hill

Head Receptionist

Sarah is our head receptionist and has been with the practice for 2 years, before she joined the practice in 2021 she worked in Childcare and administration for 20 years, including running a local village under 5s playgroup.

Sarah has always had a love for animals and has grown up with dogs, including Spaniels and Labradors. She currently has her own Springer Spaniel, who she enjoys going on long walks with by the river, but mostly enjoys looking after her granddaughter and taking her on trips to the garden centre and playgroup.

Amanda Richarson RVN

Head Nurse

Mandy joined the practice in 1989 and qualified as a RVN in 2019.
Mandy has lots of nursing and animal experience and has owned a variety of different pets icluding dogs,cats,rabbits,guinea pigs and exotics.

Niamh Cottle SVN

Niamh joined the practice in March 2017 as a work experience student, then became a full member of staff and she is now a 2nd year Student Veterinary Nurse and studying at CAW.

Out of work she also enjoys competitive dancing and is in fact a 2 time world champion, who has competed at the ESPN arena in Orlando Florida for the cheerleading and dance ICU world championships.

She owns a Catahoula Leopard Dog called Simba and 5 Rabbits.

Animal Care

Animal Care Assistants

Emily Howard

Emily joined the practice in 2021, she is a hugh animal lover and has a plethora of animals on her farm including dogs, cats, sheep, horses and her hamsters.

Emily is an avid breeder and exhibitor for pedigree syrian hamsters with numerous 1st places and best in shows under her belt.

She also has completed a foundation degree in Animal Management and intro into Veterinary nursing.

Sue

Sue has worked at Steads since June 2022, she has a love of animals and over the years has had many pets, including snakes, leopard geckos, Axolotls’. She now has a tortoise called Shelby and a Toy Chihuahua.

Before she joined our team, Sue was an early year’s practitioner and has a degree in the Early Years and A-Level in speech in Language.

In her spare time Sue is a coach and administrater at a local Cheer and Dance School, where she teached 4-6 year olds Cheerleading and Gymnastics.

Kelsey

Kelsey joined us in August 2022, she volunteers on a Saturday to gain work experience as a Veterinary Assistant. This is a role she would like to go onto after she finishes school.

She has a love of animals and has her own dog at home. Kelsey also enjoys her dancing and cheerleading, she is on a local team and attends competitions with her team.

Georgia Cranfield

Georgia has been with the practice for just 3 months and is enjoying every part of her role.

Georgia loves animals and is extremely passionate about welfare issues.
Georgia has a French bulldog called Tia who loves going for walks.
